Miao Children's Costume article featured on the Summer 2007 newsletter of the Textile Society of America

During my internship at the Textile Museum in Washington, D.C.,I wrote an article on a topic of my choice. I chose to write about the representative collection of Miao textiles and dress at the museum. These textiles are made by the Hill Tribes (an ethnic minority) in Southern China, Vietnam, Thailand and Laos. To see this article, visit http://www.textilesociety.org

Small Expressions 2007 show at Indianapolis Art Center

Handweaver's Guild of America's annual Small Expressions show, juried by Wendy Weiss, is being held at the Indianapolis Art Center until September 2007. It was previously at the Robert Hillestad Gallery at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. My piece Hellnar was selected as one of 30 international entries. This is a felted piece that I created at my artist residency in Hafnarborg Cultural Center in Hafnarfjordur, Iceland, May 2005. More information about this piece can be viewed here at this website by clicking on the link Icelandic Voyage.
